In offshore project economics, Yinson Production has agreed with Eni to expand gas processing aboard the FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor off Ghana.[4] The contract amendment, signed on 2 October and announced on 5 October, also extends the vessel's firm lease period by four years to 2036.[5]
The work targets a rise in gas export capacity from approximately 210 to 220 million standard cubic feet per day to 355 million.[4] Additional compression is intended to address expected declines in reservoir pressure and support Ghana's domestic gas supply.[4] These are planned improvements, with completion expected in the first quarter of 2028, rather than an increase in output already achieved.[5]
Yinson will fabricate and integrate two topside modules.[5] The MG2 module will contain two compressors driven by gas turbines, while the MC4 module will provide additional gas treatment capacity.[5] Yinson says it intends to maintain operational continuity during the work.[5]
After the modifications are complete, Yinson Production will receive an increased daily rate through 2036.[4] That increase and the lease extension together account for the approximately $600 million addition to firm backlog, not a disclosed construction budget.[4] The vessel processes oil and gas from the Sankofa Gye Nyame fields in Ghana's Offshore Cape Three Points block.[4]
