The latest move in LNG market structure pairs Venture Global with China Gas in a new supply agreement. China Gas will buy 0.5 million tonnes of US LNG a year for 20 years, with deliveries starting in 2030.
The contract lifts China Gas commitments with Venture Global to 2.5 million tonnes a year under 20 year agreements. Venture Global said the supply will come from its project portfolio, which includes Calcasieu Pass, Plaquemines LNG and CP2 LNG in Louisiana.
China Gas operates pipelines, terminals, storage sites and gas logistics systems across its downstream business. The added contract gives it more US supply for the next decade while tying future volumes to Venture Global projects at different stages of operation and development.
The agreement comes as long duration LNG contracting gains pace across suppliers and buyers in Asia, Europe and the United States. For cargo and fleet planners, the new volume adds another scheduled trade commitment that will require shipping capacity, terminal slots and voyage coordination from 2030.
