A Ukrainian drone attack killed one person and sparked a fire at a sea terminal in the southern Russian port of Temryuk on Saturday, regional governor Veniamin Kondratiev said on Telegram. The strike hit the Tamanneftegaz oil and gas terminal in Russia's Krasnodar region on the Black Sea, igniting fuel tanks and loading stands.
Ukraine's SBU security service said its drones hit five fuel tanks and two oil loading stands at the Tamanneftegaz facility during overnight raids. Fires were reported burning across the freight transport depot and storage yards. A second strike in the Volgograd region targeted an oil processing and pumping facility, the SBU said.
The attacks are part of a sustained campaign by Kyiv against Russia's energy infrastructure, which has continued as peace talks to end the war, now in its fourth year, have stalled. Temryuk was previously hit in late May, when Ukraine struck a gas terminal at the same port.
The Krasnodar coast handles a meaningful share of Russian seaborne crude and product flows, and repeated hits on terminals there add pressure to an export network already squeezed by Western sanctions and a thinning shadow fleet. Insurance costs for tankers loading on the Russian Black Sea have climbed sharply in recent months, and shipowners have grown more cautious about calling at ports within drone range.
