Shell has completed an offshore portfolio sale, transferring its interests in the Na Kika platform and Coulomb field to Talos Energy and an affiliate of Ridgewood Energy.[6] Shell received approximately $840 million in cash at closing.[6]
Talos acquired a 25 percent working interest in Na Kika and a 50 percent interest and operatorship in Coulomb, with Ridgewood taking the rest of Shell's interests.[6] Talos paid $420 million for its share, including a previously escrowed $42.5 million deposit, subject to customary adjustments after closing.[6] BP continues to operate Na Kika and holds the other 50 percent of that platform.[6]
Shell's share of production from the assets averaged about 37,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day in 2025.[6] Na Kika began production in 2003, followed by the Coulomb subsea connection in 2005.[6] Talos said the acquired assets would contribute to its results from the 22 September closing date and be fully consolidated from the fourth quarter.[6]
The buyers have assumed certain decommissioning obligations, while Shell Trading US retains rights to take production under agreements with them.[6] Shell also remains entitled to contingent payments through 2027 and royalties on production from new Na Kika connections, subject to conditions.[6]
