Rough seas hamper LNG offloading at Moheshkhali, gas supply dips 300mmcfd

Bangladesh faced a fresh gas supply disruption on 24 September as rough seas hampered LNG transfers from cargo vessels to floating terminals at Moheshkhali in the Bay of Bengal.[1] Petrobangla said the interruption reduced the gas available to the national grid.[1][2]

National supply stood at 2,301 million cubic feet per day at 6pm, according to Petrobangla data reported by The Business Standard.[1] Domestic gas fields contributed 1,615 million cubic feet per day, while regasified LNG supplied 686 million.[1]

The fall followed a recovery earlier in September.[1] At noon on 15 September, national supply had reached 2,610 million cubic feet per day, including 990 million from regasified LNG and 1,620 million from domestic fields.[1]

Petrobangla described the latest reduction as temporary and said supply would return to normal as quickly as possible once weather conditions improved.[1] The Daily Star also reported the transfer interruption and a fall of around 300 million cubic feet per day in LNG supply, citing Petrobangla.[2]
