McDermott clinches over $1 billion EPCI job for ADNOC’s $6.2B giant gas project

This project economics story centers on a major contract tied to ADNOC’s $6.2 billion final investment decision for the Umm Shaif Integrated Gas Cap and Surface Pressure Boosting project. ADNOC awarded McDermott an engineering, procurement, construction, and installation package worth more than $1 billion.

The scope covers a new surface pressure boosting facility, including a jacket, a topside, and modifications to existing offshore infrastructure. McDermott said the topside is expected to rank among the heaviest offshore modules installed in the Middle East.

ADNOC Offshore operates the Umm Shaif and Nasr concession with a 60 percent interest. TotalEnergies holds 20 percent, while China National Petroleum Corporation and Eni each hold 10 percent, and the development is expected to unlock more than 600 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas and associated liquids.

McDermott will lead engineering and project management from its offices in the United Arab Emirates, while its Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan consortium will handle fabrication in China. The award converts ADNOC’s recent investment decision into a large offshore construction program and adds a significant fabrication and installation workload to the regional project pipeline.
