This project economics story centers on ConocoPhillips starting production at Coyote 3SX on the Alaska North Slope. The project is expected to add up to 12,000 barrels per day of gross output. Rigzone reported that the new volumes will flow into the Trans Alaska Pipeline System.
ConocoPhillips said it built the project during 2026 and finished ahead of schedule and under budget at about 800 million dollars. The company invests roughly 1 billion dollars each year to maintain and expand its established Alaska assets. Additional pipeline capacity will support rising Coyote volumes through 2026 and beyond.
Coyote 3SX sits within the Kuparuk River Unit, a group of producing fields on the North Slope. ConocoPhillips started production from the Nuna project in 2024, marking the first new drillsite in the Greater Kuparuk Area in nearly a decade. Its much larger Willow development targets first production in 2029 and capacity of 180,000 barrels per day.
The startup adds near term barrels to an established producing area while ConocoPhillips advances Willow, its larger growth project in Alaska. For pipeline operators and service companies, the Coyote volumes also reinforce the value of continued investment around existing North Slope infrastructure.
