In LNG contracting, Cheniere Marketing has agreed to supply Brazil's Petrobras with approximately 0.8 million tonnes of LNG a year for 22 years.[6][8] Cheniere announced the agreement on 29 September as it pursues further expansion of its export business on the United States Gulf Coast.[8]
Petrobras will buy the LNG on a free on board basis.[8] As gCaptain explains, that structure generally makes the buyer responsible for arranging ocean transport after loading and gives it flexibility over cargo destinations.[6] Cheniere did not disclose when deliveries will begin or how the LNG will be priced.[6]
Cheniere operates the Sabine Pass terminal in Louisiana and the Corpus Christi facility in Texas, with combined production capacity of approximately 56 million tonnes a year.[6][8] The company reports another approximately 5 million tonnes of expected annual capacity under construction, including estimated gains from removing production bottlenecks.[8] Chief executive Jack Fusco said the Petrobras agreement provides commercial support and greater visibility over fixed fee cash flows for further expansion at existing sites.[8] The announcement confirms a supply commitment, not a new terminal approval or a disclosed start of deliveries.[8]
